Have you ever been so nervous to start something new, that the time just flew by? This is the exact feeling I have as I anticipate the start of my internship. I have just completed all of my training. Now, I am focused on packing and spending time before I leave with my family and friends. In four days, I shall embark on an amazing adventure – one of which I believe will change my life.
The training I received these past two weeks have been enlightening and have left me feeling excited and grateful to be a part of such an amazing program. Last week, I met fellow interns who will be going in different directions this summer. They are amazingly devoted and compassionate people and I am glad to count them as my friends. Having bonded over our excitement about this summer, it is wonderful to know that there are others who have the same feelings as I do.
As I begin my packing, it is hard to not feel slightly on edge about what the summer will be like for me. Even so, I am motivated and ready to push myself and be pushed past my comfort zone and am eager to surround myself in the Indigenous culture.
